Antlers Lodge Becker Vineyards Dinner

Texas is a wonderland, rich with culture, eclectic flavors and an abundance of gorgeous land that stretches as far as the eye can see, not to mention a newfound reputation for producing fantastic wine. Antler’s Lodge at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa is combining those riches for a fantastic evening of flavor during a special dinner featuring Becker Vineyards on October 13th. The evening will include a lavish five-course meal made complete with wine selections from award-winning Becker Vineyards, as well as the opportunity to hear from the vineyards’ founders, Dr. Richard and Bunny Becker.
 
Chef Armando Diaz, Chef de Cuisine of Antlers Lodge, has crafted a dinner menu of pairings that features a variety of diverse flavors to complement the fabulous array of wine produced by Becker Vineyards. Guests will enjoy dishes that include King Crab Leg, Antelope Parisa (a South Texas-style tartare), Roast Aged Duck and Ranger Cattle Wagyu New York Strip, served alongside flavorful selections from the Becker Vineyards cellar. Chef Diaz and the Beckers will discuss each course and its pairing with dinner guests. A reception with the Beckers and Chef Diaz kicks off at 6:30 p.m., with dinner following at 7:00 p.m. This special dining event is being offered at the price of $120 per person, tax and gratuity not included.
 
Pioneers in Texas wine making, the Beckers put Texas on the map as a serious contender in the wine world. While searching for a relaxing getaway retreat in 1992, the Beckers purchased several acres of spacious land in the Texas Hill Country. Soon after purchasing the property, the couple began planting the seeds for the successful winery whose wines are adored by wine connoisseurs today. Becker Vineyards wines have been the recipient of numerous awards, including 27 medals in the 2015 Lone Star International Wine Competition alone, making them the true gold standard of Texas wine. The winery has also helped make Texas a contender in wine production and carved the path for many other successful wineries that currently operate in the state.
 
Becker Vineyards’ wines are the perfect match for Antlers Lodge, the signature restaurant at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa that features locally harvested ingredients and ranch-inspired cuisine with a focus on prime cuts and game. Nestled on the site of the historic Rogers Wiseman Ranch and serving locally sourced ingredients respecting the Texas Hill Country’s cultural influences, Antlers is known for its fantastic customer service, unforgettable flavors and unique location providing terrific views of the resort’s scenic, award-winning golf course and Hill Country surroundings. The AAA-Four Star restaurant received OpenTable’s “Diners’ Choice Award” 2015 and has been the recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence annually since 2012.
 
The pairing dinner features three reds and two whites from Becker’s exquisite selection. While becoming acquainted with the Beckers during the reception, guests will be delighted to sip on the first superb selection of the evening, the 2014 Provencal Mourvedre. This dry rose wine, which was awarded the silver medal at the 2015 San Francisco International Wine competition, features delicate pear, floral and strawberry notes and is the perfect wine to begin the evening of fine cuisine. During the first course, enjoy the 2014 White Wing, which earned the gold medal at the 2016 San Francisco International Wine Competition. A blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc, it was created in the Bordeaux-style in French Allier oak. This smooth white selection flows like the sunrise over a field of Texas sunflowers and pairs perfectly with the delicious first course and sophisticated country atmosphere of Antlers.
 
The second course features the first red wine of the evening, the award winning 2014 Tempranillo Reserve. This delicious currant selection was the silver medalist at both the 2015 Lonestar International Wine Competition and the 2016 Stock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition. The third course of Roast Aged Duck is brilliantly paired with the 2013 Raven, a red wine with enticing aromas of vanilla, violets and allspice with notes of rose. The evening also features the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, a red selection with hints of blackberries and smokiness on the finish, which was awarded the gold medal at the 2014 Long Beach Grand Cru Competition. The intensely flavored 2014 Viognier Reserve caps off the evening. With flavors of apricot, vanilla and clove this white selection is the perfect pair for the sweet dessert course and the ideal way to end this evening of delectable flavors.
