September 19, 2016
If you like your Oktober with a side of flavor, fun and all things German, dig out your lederhosen and head to Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa’s Third Annual Oktoberfest Celebration on Saturday, October 8th. Or if you want to enjoy your fest with a side of waves, wear your bathing suit and let your fest float at the resort’s five acre water park. With a menu of German specialties and an array of brews, served with a side of water fun, the resort is rolling out the “Wilkommen” mat to welcome those who know that the arrival of fall means more than just pumpkin spice.
The resort’s Third Annual Oktoberfest Celebration runs 4 – 8 p.m. with more flavor, fun and oompas than you can polka to, so come say hello to fall and make a splash during the resort’s fun-filled evening of craft beers, festive music, fabulous German foods and water fun perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Held in Henry’s Hollow on the resort’s grounds, Oktoberfest will feature live music from Rennie Guenther and the Happy Travelers, a family show band that plays traditional German, Czech and Polish music. With oompahs, polkas and waltzes, yodeling and country music giving the afternoon the perfect vibe for Oktoberfest fun, the event will include a terrific selection of German brews and Texas craft beers, including both Ranger Creek’s and Karbach’s Oktoberfest beers. The event is sure to satisfy your Oktober cravings as you delight in the perfect brews to match the authentic German cuisine that will make you feel as if you’re enjoying a meal in Germany itself.
There’s nothing like a fantastic German feast to accompany your beer and Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa’s delicious food stations definitely fill the bill. Featuring both “Heißes Essen” and “Kaltes Essen”—that’s hot and cold food for those who love German but don’t speak it—including fresh Pretzel Rolls and Pumpernickle Loaf; Warm Pretzels with St. Arnold Porter Beer Cheese; Leberkase with mustard demiglaze; Shiner Bock Glazed Weisswurst and Bratwurst; House-fried Pork Schnitzel with lemon wedges and lingonberry jam; Marble Potato Salad with Apple Mustard Dressing; Braised Red Cabbage with caraway seed and honey; and Brown Butter Sage Spatzle. The “cold” food stations will feature German Mixed Garden Greens with blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes, croutons and honey-roasted beets with white wine dill dressing; local Jerky and Charcuterie; assorted House-made Mustards; Bacon and Chive Potato Salad; and Hill Country Sauerkraut. For a sweet ending, Berliners and German Chocolate Cake, as well as other German goodies, will be featured.
Tickets for the event are $26 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-12, while children 5 and under are free. The admission price includes food, entertainment, one drink ticket (good for beer or a non-alcoholic beverage) and parking. A cash bar will be available to purchase additional beer, wine, cocktails and other non-alcoholic beverages. So where does that lederhosen bathing suit come in? Tickets for the event also include access to the resort’s pools and waterpark from noon – 8 p.m. on the day of the event, making sure that you can wet both your whistle and your bathing suit during this special Oktoberfest. Tickets may be purchased by calling the resort at 210-767-7999.
Five Acres of Water Fun Makes Every Day a Fest
Only in Texas can you enjoy Oktoberfest and a river ride at the same time, so bring your suits and jump in a tube to float in the resort’s Ramblin' River®, or hang ten on the FlowRider® wave machine. Access to the resort’s full water park is included with admission to Oktoberfest. To ride the FlowRider®, there is an additional fee per hour of use.
With three swimming pools, cascading water falls, a sandy beach, the Ramblin' River® and the FlowRider® wave machine turning up the fun meter for anyone who enjoys riding the waves, there’s no reason not to give your brews a water chaser. The exciting attraction simulates a “barrel-less” wave, complete with a sloped wave surface featuring 40,000 gallons of water being driven up at a rate of about 18,000 gallons per minute. What does that mean? Perfect waves, all year long, ready for guests to flowboard their day away.
In addition to the wave machine, the resort also features a 22-foot-tall tower waterslide, an activity pool equipped with water volleyball and basketball, an adults-only Texas-shaped pool, 2 hot tubs and a zero-entry kiddie wading pool, ensuring wet fun for everyone. The pools are all heated, making them a great spot year-round, but if you’re looking for dry fun, Oktoberfest also has you covered: Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa is a playground full of fun. All of the fest activity will unfold next to the resort’s true playground, making it a perfect spot for families to enjoy, while sand volleyball and other games including badminton, horseshoes, corn hole and more, giving you plenty of ways to fill your fest with fun.
