Morningside Ministries Wins National Award for Excellence in Not-For-Profit Leadership
Morningside Ministries has been selected to receive the 2016 Excellence in Not-For-Profit Leadership Award from LeadingAge, a national association representing 6,000 non-profit aging services organizations throughout the United States.
The award recognizes Morningside Ministries for its advances in enhancing the dignity and quality of life of older adults, their family members and caregivers with compassionate care throughout its 55 years as a non-profit organization. The award highlights Morningside's award-winning online education portal mmLearn.org, its long-time partnership with non-profit organizations Jefferson Outreach and San Antonio OASIS, and the organization's early adoption of the Xenex germ-zapping robot, now found in all three of Morningside's skilled nursing facilities.
Morningside Ministries was founded as a faith-based, not-for-profit senior living organization in 1961 with the grand opening of Morningside Manor on Babcock Road. Over the last 55 years, the organization has grown from one to three senior living communities serving the greater San Antonio area offering retirement living, assisted living, skilled nursing, rehabilitation services and memory care to senior adults age 55 and older.
“We are deeply honored and humbled to have been selected to receive this award,” said Alvin A. Loewenberg, who has served as the President and CEO of Morningside Ministries since 1990. “This award is a tribute to our devoted employees and staff members who work so hard to deliver compassionate care to our residents every day."
Morningside Ministries will formally accept the Excellence in Not-For-Profit Leadership Award during the LeadingAge National Conference in Indianapolis, Ind. this fall.
