ROTARY’S information seminar, May 19th, 7:30am
Rotary District 5840 holding information seminar to promote Rotary leadership opportunities.

Last year, the 58 Rotary Clubs in Rotary International District 5840 provided over $5.2 million in money, goods and volunteer services to their communities throughout South Central Texas. These Rotary Clubs performed 542 service projects, devoting nearly 64,000 volunteer hours to help people and communities, and raising funds for a variety of charities. All of these Rotary projects are meaningful, but who leads them? How do we develop outstanding leaders with the bandwidth to initiate, plan and execute projects as large as the official Fiesta event Alamo Heights Night (which has been run by the Alamo Heights Rotary Club since 19871)

Ron Nirenberg, District 8 Councilman and member of the Rotary Club of San Antonio Northwest, explains: “For more than 100 years, Rotary's powerful combination of relationship building, community integration, leadership development and intergenerational mentoring has created a nucleus of talent equipped to address the needs of communities, and to promote goodwill and understanding worldwide. This agile, flexible volunteer force is able to respond to local and international crises quickly and effectively.”

Every Rotarian is encouraged to develop their leadership skills by volunteering for projects designed to serve their community. Each Rotary club is set up to provide leadership and mentoring opportunities, formally and informally.

“The strength of Rotary is in its agility and flexibility to respond to a community need quickly and decisively. We can do this because of the leaders we nurture and empower,” adds longtime Rotarian Terry Mendenhall.
