Snowball 5K Run/Walk, Accessible 1 Mile to Benefit The Academy at Morgan's Wonderland

Hundreds of fitness-minded families and individuals will gather Saturday morning, Jan. 30, for the 3rd Annual Snowball 5K Run/Walk and Accessible 1 Mile benefitting The Academy at Morgan’s Wonderland, a non-profit school for students with special needs (ages 12-14).

The Accessible 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Morgan’s Wonderland, 5223 David Edwards Drive at the intersection of Wurzbach Parkway and Thousand Oaks Drive a half-mile west of IH 35 in Northeast San Antonio, while the Accessible 1 Mile will follow at 9:15 a.m.

“The Snowball Run/Walk is a great way to burn off excess holiday calories as well as benefit The Academy at Morgan’s Wonderland,” said Janice Troy, who’s chairing the event. “Each year, the run attracts a larger and larger following because there’s something enjoyable for everyone.”
Registration information is available at http://MorgansWonderland.academy/events/snowball-run, she noted.

The Snowball Run/Walk will start and end inside Morgan’s Wonderland, Troy said.  The course will wind around the unique theme park’s catch-and-release fishing lake, the playing fields at the STAR Soccer Complex next door and nearby Heroes Stadium.

The event, which will be held rain or shine, will offer age-group awards, ribbons for 1 Mile participants, long-sleeve technical t-shirts, hot chocolate, food (including pancakes from Magnolia Pancake Haus), music, characters from the cast of “Frozen” and other Disney characters, snowball toss and more, Troy noted. Individuals using walkers, wheelchairs and baby strollers are welcome to participate.
