SWBC Celebrates 40 Years of Growth and Success

SWBC is celebrating its 40th anniversary in business. Charlie Amato and Gary Dudley started SWBC April 1, 1976 with just $1,500 in capital. The company has seen tremendous growth in the products it offers along with the number of employees across the United States. SWBC now offers 150 products spanning 18 divisions and employs nearly 3,300 people across the United States.

“We are excited to celebrate this momentous occasion,” said Charlie Amato, Chairman and Co-founder. “When we started this company, we had no idea of the incredible journey it would take us. We are extremely grateful to our amazing employees and customers.”

SWBC is proud of the growth it has experienced and reputation it has built in the business and financial services industry in the nation. SWBC has been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas by Texas Monthly and one of San Antonio’s Top Workplaces by the San Antonio Express-News.

SWBC works with individuals, businesses, and financial institutions to provide services like mortgages, life insurance, investment programs, payroll services, risk management, cyber liability, and employee benefits.

SWBC is also a proud supporter of the communities in which employees live and work. SWBC and its employees contribute to numerous non-profit and charitable organizations throughout the country, most notably the United Way, the American Heart Association, the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, and Silver and Black Give Back. Gary and Charlie were also inducted in the Texas Business Hall of Fame, awarded the Beta Gamma Sigma Medallion for Entrepreneurship, and created The Gary Dudley and Charlie Amato Endowed Chair in Pediatric Neurology at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. They are both distinguished alumni of Sam Houston State University and were inducted into the school’s College of Business Hall of Honor. Charlie was also appointed Board Member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, San Antonio branch and Regent of the Texas State University System. He was also recently awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, the highest honor the University of the Incarnate Word can confer on an individual. Gary has chaired the San Antonio Heart and Stroke Walk. Both are investors in the San Antonio Spurs.

“We strive to pioneer financial and insurance solutions and combine that with world-class service and technology,” said Gary Dudley, President and Co-founder. “We also stress the importance of integrity and doing what is right for the community. It’s worked for the past 40 years, and we plan to continue.”

As part of the 40th anniversary celebration, SWBC has created a social media campaign called #ThisIsForty. The campaign has consisted of images and videos depicting people accomplishing fun challenges for forty seconds or incorporating “40” into the imagery. Videos and images can be viewed on SWBC’s official Facebook page, www.facebook.com/swbcfinancialservices. SWBC employees can also view the latest #ThisIs40 video on Connect.
