The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo contributes $12.2 million to educating the youth of Texas

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo announced today that it is committing a record breaking $12.2 million to help further the educational and agricultural goals of the youth of Texas. This is the largest amount given to date by the organization.  Since inception, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has contributed $160.1 million.

Keith Martin, Executive Director and CEO, made the announcement to the volunteers at the organization’s annual membership meeting, on May 19th at the Expo Hall of the Freeman Coliseum/AT&T Center grounds in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Martin said, “It is this moment in the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo that gives us the greatest joy—helping educate the youth of Texas.  We receive incredible monetary support from our sponsors.  Every person who attends is contributing to the cause.  And frankly, there is no volunteer force on earth like the one we have here. We live in an amazing community.”

The monies awarded were raised primarily through fundraising events and the annual eighteen-day San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo held in February.  The $12.2 million will be awarded to the youth of Texas in the form of scholarships, grants and endowments.  Also included in the giving amount are funds from the junior livestock auctions, youth western art auction, calf scramble program and show premiums.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has a rich tradition and history of stewardship to the community and the agriculture industry.  With a clear vision of the future, a successful past and continual dedication from over 6,000 volunteers, the organization will continue to provide family friendly entertainment, be a pillar of strength for the community and continue the tradition of supporting the youth of Texas.

The 2016 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will be held February 11th – 28th at the AT&T Center/Freeman Coliseum Grounds.
