The Texas Lyceum's 29th Public Conference

The Texas Lyceum’s 29th Public Conference will take place on March 6, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at The Hilton Austin Hotel at 500 East 4th Street.

For many years, Texas has widely been considered the best place in America to own a business, relocate an existing company, and create jobs. People suggest this consideration is due to many reasons, some of which are a business-friendly regulatory environment, a skilled talent pool, a low tax burden, and a low cost of living. Given that other states are aggressively targeting Texas’ success, how can we ensure that the “Texas Miracle” continues? How do we remain a top competitor in the race for domestic and foreign companies to remain or locate here in the state?

The 2015 Texas Lyceum Public Conference (PubCon) will address some of the short and long-term challenges affecting Texas’ ability to remain a top competitor in the ever-changing global market. PubCon attendees will hear a variety of experts deliberate on important issues impacting our continued ability to compete, issues such as water, infrastructure, workforce and education. With a brand new slate of state leadership, as well as a new group of committee chairs in both chambers of the Texas Legislature, the 2015 PubCon will discuss short and long-term solutions, as we work collectively towards a sustainable economic strategy. This year promises to be a defining time in our state’s great history. With the threat of aggressive competition on both the domestic and foreign fronts, how can we make sure that Texas remains strongly competitive and is the location of choice for business both large and small? In 2015, more than any other year, the Texas Lyceum will have a unique opportunity to influence a new crop of Texas leaders and the direction our state is headed.
